BYU-Hawaii Graduates
15 Athletes
Laie-Brigham Young University-Hawaii graduated 15 athletes at the recent
June commencement and awarded Associate degrees to two others. With much
attention being given in recent weeks to the poor graduation rates of
athletes at many schools, BYU-Hawaii goes against that trend by graduating
a majority of its athletes.
This June's crop of graduates included Salutatorian Harry Needle and
Vladimir Sasic from the men's tennis team; Hana Krivonozkova and Maylani
Ah-Hoy from women's tennis; Karla Rebeiro, Ave (Neria) Matsuzaki, Vanessa
Valansi and Kapu Elkington from women's volleyball; Nico Roseboom-DeVries
and Joseph Williams from men's cross country; Holly (Farr) Harn, Tami
Layton and Kim (Burton) Laing from women's softball; and Isaac Turley
and Robbie Baldwin from men's basketball. In addition, Summer George from
women's softball and Kaci Jensen from women's cross country were awarded
Associates degrees.
