WHAT IS A CREDENTIAL FILE?

A credential file can include letters of recommendation, curriculum vitae, writing samples, dissertation abstracts, teaching certifications, student evaluations, and more.


ABOUT INTERFOLIO

Interfolio is an independent company that makes it possible for you to create an electronic portfolio and manage your important credentials online. Many major universities utilize Interfolio's dossier storage and distribution services.

 

Interfolio offers these features:

  • 24/7 access to your credentials file.
  • Distribution requests go out within one business day. Priority requests mad eby 2:00 pm (EST) will go out the same day.
  • As a business, Interfolio charges for its service. It accepts credit card payments: VISA, MasterCard, and American Express.
  • Confidentiality of records: Interfolio enforces the same federal privacy regulations as an educational institution.

Q. How do I obtain letters of recommendation?
A. First, read the information under Graduate Study: Letters of Recommendation.
   
Q. How do I obtain an official transcript?
A. Transcripts can be ordered by the following:

Q. When Interfolio distributes my credentials file, will the cover page display the BYU Hawaii logo?
A. Yes, along with an explanation of the relationship between BYU Hawaii and Interfolio.
   
Q. I'm a grad student and want my graduate school advisor or placement officer to have access to the contents of my file. How will this work?
A. Request that Interfolio distribute a copy of your file to your advisor/placement officer.
   
Q. What if my letter writers don't want to submit their recommendations electronically?
A. Although your references can register (at no charge) with Interfolio and send their letters FREE via the Internet, they aren't obligated to do so. Letters can also be submitted by posted mail service.
   
Q. What if my references have concerns about Interfolio?
A. They have some choices. They can send their letters directly to the schools or employers, or, perhaps more conveniently, to Interfolio. Career Services considered extensive input from other universities before deciding to use Interfolio. If your references have any questions, we'll be glad to advise them.
