English as an International Language (EIL)
About the EIL Program
The
purpose of the English as an International Language (EIL) program
is to help non-native speakers of English increase their academic
English proficiency. The program is available to students who
have
been admitted to Brigham Young University-Hawaii Campus and are
seeking an academic degree. Language instruction is offered at
the intermediate and advanced levels. Although many international
students
have studied English in their home countries or even in the U.S.,
they may not have the necessary academic English to succeed in
university courses. The EIL program helps students develop the
English
skills they will need to achieve their academic goals at BYU-Hawaii.
