English as an International Language (EIL)
Grading
The EIL program follows the university grading scale as
follows:
| A | Exceptional Achievement | 4.00 |
| A- | 3.70 | |
| B+ | 3.40 | |
| B | Above Average Quality | 3.00 |
| B- | 2.70 | |
| C+ | 2.40 | |
| C | Acceptable Work | 2.00 |
| C- | 1.70 | |
| D+ | 1.40 | |
| D | Not Fully Satisfactory | 1.00 |
| D- | 0.07 | |
| F | 0.00 |
Grades do not reflect the students' effort, but their ability to
perform in the target language.
Another possible grade is the "X" grade, which indicates that continued registration
is necessary for completion of the class. The X grade is used when a student
needs more than one semester or term to achieve the required proficiency of
a course, though the quantity of the work has been satisfactory. To receive
credit and a grade for the class, the student must register in a subsequent
semester or term and achieve the proficiency required.
