BYU Hawaii Library BYU Hawaii Style Guide

Being a History Major requires a lot of library research. Use the library website. There is so much there that can help you. Here are some hints on how to use the library website:
  • Online Catalog: The online catalog has many books that are available. It is much easier to search for books in our library using the online catalog.
  • E-brary: This is a new and powerful feature in the library. You can use this to look for books online. You can read from them and even copy text from them. One benefit of this is when you copy the text, it also brings all of the bibliographic information with it!
  • Indexes & Databases: These are very helpful for finding articles from periodicals. One of the best ones is ProQuest. Using this, you can find out a lot of information about your research topic.
  • Inter-library loan: This is very helpful. If you can't find a book in our library, you can see if BYU-Provo or UH-Manoa has it. You can then obtain the book by signing up for inter-library loan. This can be very helpful, seeing that we have a limited amount of resources.
