The Art Education Major
An art education major requires 41 hours that include 18 hours of design and media core classes, nine hours of art history and theory, 12 hours of media classes and two hours of art education. The art education major should begin the professional education sequence (see School of Education - Basic Certification Requirements) during the Sophomore year. Freshman students should begin their studio art training by taking the foundation courses the first year. Transfer students may substitute equivalent foundation courses if competence is reflected in their entering portfolio review. D credit will not be accepted in fulfilling major requirements.
